Seventeen-year-old Julie has planned her future: to move out of her small town with her boyfriend Sam, enroll in college in the city, and spend the summer in Japan. But then Sam dies. And everything changes. Heartbroken, Julie skips her boyfriend's funeral, throws away his belongings, and tries to do everything she can to forget him and his tragic death. However, a note Sam left in her yearbook brings back memories. Desperate to hear his voice again, she calls Sam's cell phone just to listen to his voicemail. And Sam picks up the phone. Julie gets another chance to say goodbye. However, upon hearing Sam's voice, she falls in love with him again and again, and with each call, it becomes increasingly difficult for her to let him go.
